Robert George Mallison, Sr.

Robert George Mallison, Sr., age 90, of Marion, passed away peacefully at 9:24 pm on Monday, November 3, 2025, in his home.

Born on October 2, 1935, in Grand Rapids, Michigan, Robert was the son of Leon and Bessie (Pickthorn) Mallison. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and served during the Korean Conflict, stationed in Alaska.  In adulthood, Robert graduated from Hastings High School.

On May 30, 1969, Robert married the love of his life, Donna Rose Cochran. Together, they built a life centered on faith, family, and service.

Robert worked for many years at Hastings Manufacturing Company before retiring. He was a devoted member of Back Creek Wesleyan Church, where his love for Jesus, gospel music, and ministry shone brightly. He especially cherished gospel songs written by his son and was known for his joyful singing and heartfelt conversations. A man of deep faith, Robert often greeted others with the question, “If you died today, do you know beyond a shadow of a doubt that you would go to heaven?”--a reflection of his passion for sharing the Gospel.

Robert never met a stranger and had a gift for making others feel seen and loved. His legacy of kindness, music, and ministry will live on in the hearts of those who knew him.

He is survived by his children: Robert (late Norma) Mallison, Jr. of Marion, Debra (Philip) Parker of Marion, IN, James (Lisa) Mallison of Ironwood, MI, Terri (late Robert) Bird of Freeport, MI, Howard (June) Clawson of Wakefield, MI, Sherri (Glenn) Taggart of Spencer, TN, and Julie (late Linda) Mallison of Ironwood, MI. He is also survived by 21 grandchildren, many great-grandchildren, a few great-great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Robert was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Donna Rose Mallison; his parents, Leon and Bessie Mallison; and other cherished family members.

A time of visitation will be held from 11:00 am to 12:00 noon on Saturday, November 15, 2025, at Back Creek Wesleyan Church, 10971 SE 00 W., Fairmount, IN.

A celebration of Robert’s life will follow at 12:00 noon with Benjamin Parker and Leonard Davis officiating. Burial will take place at Marion National Cemetery at a later date.
