Clare was a 1957 graduate of Wabash High School. She married Steven K. Vrooman in Wabash on August 31, 1958; he died December 28, 2012. Clare was a homemaker to her three kids and one of the things they joked about with her cooking is that she would serve the same five meals and throw in different versions of jello salad with various things in the jello like pears or shreddings of carrots. After she became a grandma her favorite thing to do was spending time with each grandkid, whether that was playing Play-doh, decorating gingerbread houses every Christmas, coloring Easter eggs, or just getting down on the floor with them to play whatever they wanted she enjoyed it all with them. Those were some of her fondest memories.
She also enjoyed spending several summers traveling to Bethany Beach, Delaware with her two sisters and family. The beach was one of her happy places. Clare was quite the fashionista in her day. It was one of her hobbies to always have a matching purse with her outfit, which also matched her shoes and jewelry. She never went anywhere without putting on lipstick! In her later years she spent a lot of time with her rescue dog Ginger that she rescued from a shelter on the southside of Indianapolis. She enjoyed just sitting with Ginger on her lap as she drank coffee all day.
She is survived by three children, Scott (Muriel) Vrooman of Friendswood, Texas, Stan (Jen) Vrooman of Westfield, Indiana, and Julie (Craig) Beauregard of Union, Kentucky; four grandchildren, Ann Vrooman of Santa Monica, California, Jack Vrooman of Brooklyn, New York, Jaggerd Beauregard and Isabella Beauregard, both of Union, Kentucky; and her siblings, Janice (Neil) Davidson of Chevy Chase, Maryland, Stella Denney of Wabash, and George (Marilyn) Scheerer of Fort Wayne, Indiana. She was preceded in death by her parents, and her husband, Steven K. Vrooman.
