Missing male juvenile located safely in Wabash

WABASH, IN- On Tuesday, October 21, 2025 at approximately 2:55 p.m. Wabash Central Dispatch was notified of a missing juvenile at 5866 W 200 S, Wabash, Indiana which is in the area of Old 24 & County Road 200 South (Higley Curve).

Wabash County Sheriff’s Office personnel were already in the immediate area investigating a fatality crash that had occurred just prior to this call-for-service. The juvenile’s grandmother had called to alert law enforcement of her grandson’s disappearance. The grandmother claimed that the juvenile had been missing for approximately 10 minutes prior to her calling Central Dispatch. Deputy Gatlon Burton was informed that the missing male juvenile was 9 years-of-age, non-verbal, and autistic. The boy’s residence was thoroughly searched twice, with no success, and at approximately 3:14 p.m. all local township fire departments, and several local police agencies, were activated to assist with the search.

At approximately 3:30 p.m., Dianne Fife, a resident / neighbor within the Lakeview Mobile Home Park located the male juvenile to the south of the park, in the woods, playing in a creek. The male juvenile was returned to his mother and grandmother after being medically cleared by emergency medical personnel from the Wabash City Fire Department. The Indiana Department of Child Services was contacted for a follow-up investigation. There is no further information to release as this time.
