
Brian "Astro" Keith Kanedy, O.G., 64, Gas City, passed away at 4:35 am on Friday, October 10, 2025, at Stillwater Hospice in Fort Wayne. He was born in Marion, Indiana, on Wednesday, May 24, 1961, to Chester Jones and Nova Mae (Reel) Kingery. He married the love of his life, Sharyl Kanedy, who survives.
Brian graduated from Marion High School and was a truck driver with J Trans and SHF Trucking. He owned and operated BoDawg Express for the last five years. He was a proud member of The Black Hatchets MC in Marion and had a lifelong passion for motorcycles. He found joy and freedom on the open road, both as a rider and a dedicated truck driver. Above all, Brian cherished his family--especially the time spent with his beloved grandchildren. His heart belonged to his babies, his trucks, and his bikes, and he lived every day with love and loyalty to them.
Survivors include his wife, Sharyl Kanedy of Gas City; children, Kristy Habiby of Indianapolis, Daniel (Megan Warren) Kanedy of Marion, Samantha (Chad) Holzinger of Huntington, and Megan Ball of Van Buren; grandchildren, Sophia, Hailey, Kaitlyn, Alannah, Chrystopher, Gracyn, Nova, Amaya, Steven, Karlie, Logan, Brooklynn, and Kalena; siblings, Willa Dean (Jessie) Jones, Nora Ruth Jones, Loretta (Barry) Roach, Christian Joy Jones, and Pamela (Rock) Donley; several nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends; and his beloved dog and best friend, Bo.
He was preceded in death by his father, Chester Jones; mother, Nova Mae Kingery; son, Michael Dean Kanedy; sisters, Flora Porter, Mary Franklin, Gwyn Reel, and Faye Perez; and brother, Gary Reel.
The family will receive visitors from 11:00 am to 2:00 pm on Sunday, October 19, 2025, at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral & Cremation Service, North Chapel, 1341 N. Baldwin Ave., Marion, IN.
Immediately following the time of visitation, a funeral service to celebrate Brian's life will begin at 2:00 pm. Pastor Greg Sweat will be officiating.
