Barbara J. Frieden, 90, of Rochester, Indiana, formerly of rural North Manchester, Indiana, died at 11:20 pm, Thursday, September 25, 2025, at Wynnfield Crossing in Rochester. She was born on June 10, 1935, in Wabash County, Indiana, to Raymond B. and Imogene B. (Vickery) Schroll.
Barbara was a 1953 graduate of Chester High School in North Manchester. She married Marcus Frieden in Elkhart County, Indiana on July 2, 1953; he died October 24, 2008. Barbara was a stay at home mother and a member of the Congregational Christian Church in North Manchester. She also belonged to the Ivy Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star #69. Barbara enjoyed watching sports, and loved her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She is survived by four children, Susie (Charlie) Larson of Placida, Florida, Mark R. Frieden of Indianapolis, Indiana, Todd E. Frieden of Arcadia, Indiana, and Sam (Julie) Frieden of Rochester; six grandchildren, Matt (Karissa) Frieden of Rochester, Joe (Madison) Frieden of Wabash, Carter (Ali) Frieden of North Manchester, Jensen (Payton) Frieden of Peru, Indiana, Tim (Tristen) Frieden of Indianapolis, and Beth (Chris) Frieden-Garcia of Salt Lake City, Utah; seven great grandchildren, Lincoln Frieden, Brooke Frieden, Delilah Frieden, Ivy Frieden, Andi Frieden, William Frieden, and Demi Frieden; and her sister, Beverly Rupp of Fort Wayne, Indiana. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Marcus; and her daughter, Bobbi Frieden.
Funeral services will be 1:00 pm, Wednesday, October 1, 2025, at Grandstaff-Hentgen Bender Chapel, 207 W. Main St., North Manchester, with Pastor J.P. Freeman officiating. Burial will be in Fairview Cemetery, Servia. Friends may call 4-7 pm Tuesday, at the funeral home.
