Christine M. “Chris” Mathews, 74, of Lebanon, Indiana, passed away on August 23, 2025. Born November 6th, 1950, to Charles and Rose Hettmansperger in Wabash, Indiana. Christine was preceded in death by her dear sister, Cheri Pate. Their closeness and shared memories remained a treasured part of Christine’s heart throughout her life.
Christine had a love for the simple joys that brought people together. She treasured time with her grandchildren, adored her dogs, and found peace in the presence of her horses. She loved camping trips, crafting projects, and making memories with those she held dear. Her warmth, creativity, and spirit of adventure will be remembered by all who knew her.
She is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 55 years, David E. Mathews Jr.; her daughters, Wendy Mathews-Sisley and Alice Jannotta; her son, Eric Mathews; and her cherished grandchildren, who were the light of her life. Christine was a proud and loving mother to Wendy, Alice and Eric, and her happiest times were those spent with her family and grandchildren.
There will be a Celebration of Chris' life from 10:30 am - 12:00 pm, Saturday, September 27, 2025, at Grandstaff-Hentgen Funeral Service, 1241 Manchester Avenue, Wabash, Indiana.
Christine will be remembered for her adventurous spirit, warmth, and the countless memories she created on trails, in campsites, and at home. She will be deeply missed and forever loved.
