Marilyn Yvonne (Henderson) Adkins

Marilyn Yvonne (Henderson) Adkins was born in Sweetser, Indiana, on November 22, 1935, to the late Leroy and Leona Henderson.  She graduated from Sweetser High School in 1954.  

On May 29, 1954, Marilyn married Charles H. Adkins, who preceded her in death.  To this union, they had four children: Rosanna Lee (Terry) Mundorf, Charles H. (Belinda) Adkins, Jr., Freddie L. (Angie) Adkins, and Stephanie E. (Steve) Sopher. They were also blessed with grandchildren: April (Dennis) Childers, David (DJ) Bowland, Steven (Sue Ellen) Sopher, Justin Adkins, Tiffany (Phillip) McBride, Nathan (Raissa) Adkins, Joshua (Nichole) Adkins, Ethan (Brittany) Adkins, and Jose and Miguel Adkins; great-grandchildren: Lilly, Bella, Lulu, Ireland, and Oliver McBride; Kain Sopher; Braiden, Mason, and Carter Adkins; Jaya, Tristan, and Iyana Adkins, all who were the love of her life; and best friend, Linda, from Illinois.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Rosanna Lee Mundorf; sons-in-law, Terry Mundorf and Steve Sopher; grandson, DJ Bowland; sisters, Theora Baker, Kate Myers, Rose Mary Thompson, Clara Stevens, and Barbara Perkins; brother, James E. Henderson; and brothers-in-law, Jim Perkins and Merrill Stevens.

Marilyn enjoyed spending time with family and friends, camping, hiking, basketball, and the Gaithers.  In earlier years, she helped organize activities in Amboy for teenagers, helped with the Converse parade, and along with her sister they were head of the 5th and 6th grade cheerleading group of Converse.  She also volunteered at Marion General Hospital, owned and operated Pizza King in Converse with family, and did missionary work along with her husband for the Oklahoma Project.

Most of all, Marilyn loved the Lord, Who sustained her through the good and bad times.

The family will receive visitors from 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Thursday, September 18, 2025, at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral & Cremation Service, North Chapel, 1341 N. Baldwin Ave., Marion, IN.

On Friday, September 19, 2025, a service to celebrate Marilyn’s life will begin at 10:00 am with Pastor Blaine Pond officiating.  Burial will take place at Thrailkill Cemetery.
