MARION, IN – According to the Grant County Sheriff’s Office on Saturday, September 13th, 2025, at approximately 8:46 p.m., Grant County 911 Central Dispatch received calls in reference to a traffic accident involving multiple vehicles on State Road 9 at Meridian Street on the north side of Marion.
After deputies arrived on scene, they determined four vehicles were involved in the crash with multiple injuries and at least one entrapment. The injured were transported to Marion Health for treatment. A 57-year-old Marion woman was airlifted to a Fort Wayne hospital, where she died.
Investigators believe three of the vehicles were traveling southbound on State Road 9, and one was northbound. A southbound vehicle slowed to make a left-hand turn onto Meridian Street. The same vehicle was rear-ended, causing it to spin into the opposite lane, where it was struck by a northbound vehicle, causing it to spin again into the path of another southbound vehicle.
Grant County Sheriff's Office is conducting the crash investigation with assistance from the Indiana State Police. This investigation is ongoing, so this is only preliminary information for public release and subject to change as the investigators gather the information and facts relevant to the crash.
