Alma Ann Smith

Alma Ann Smith, 94, formerly of rural Wabash, Indiana, died at 6:55 pm, Sunday, August 10, 2025, at Wellbrooke of Wabash. She was born on July 21, 1931, in Wabash, to George D Roser and Louise (Williams) Roser-Eppley.

Alma was a 1949 graduate of Somerset High School. She married Lyman L. Smith Jr., at the Zion Lutheran Church in Wabash on March 16, 1951; he died November 13, 2016. Alma was a homemaker and a working farmer's wife. She was a longtime member of the Zion Lutheran Church in Wabash, where she also taught Sunday School. Alma was also a member of the Cozy Homemakers Home Ec Club. She was an excellent cook and baker, loved her cat, going to tea rooms, and boating at the lake, enjoyed playing Bingo and Euchre, going to garage sales, telling stories, and spending time with her grandchildren.

She is survived by three children, Debra (Evan) Bagley of Greentown, Indiana, Luann (Joel) Collins of Fort Pierce, Florida, and Lyman Lee (Karen) Smith of Wabash; 10 grandchildren, Megan (Bill) Minor of Fort Myers, Florida, Ian (Katie) Bagley of Dutch Harbor, Alaska, Sergio (Erica) Workman of Denver, Colorado, Katrina Fonseca of Delavan, Wisconsin, Kayla (Casey) Taylor and Lyman Len (Megan) Smith, both of Wabash, Karli (Jake) Shelters of Trenton, Maine, Joel Collins II of West Deptford, New Jersey, Jesse Collins of Waconia, Minnesota, and Kylie Collins of Delavan, Wisconsin; and 16 great grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by her parents, step-father Garrett Eppley, and her sister, Betty Morrett.

Funeral services will be 2:00 pm, Monday, August 18, 2025, at Grandstaff-Hentgen Funeral Service, 1241 Manchester Avenue, Wabash, with Pastor Schieber officiating. Burial will be in Mississinewa Memorial Cemetery, Somerset. Friends may call 12:30-2:00 pm Monday, at the funeral home.

Preferred memorials are Zion Lutheran Church or the Animal Shelter of Wabash County.
