Update on recent Logansport stabbing

UPDATE: LOGANSPORT, IN- According to police reports, the incident with George Mellor, 39, of Peru, was first reported on Tuesday from the Science Project, 611 North St in Logansport, just after 8:30 p.m. Employees at the restaurant told Cass County dispatchers that a man had been in the establishment threatening another man with a knife. Before officers were able to arrive, dispatch received another call that the man who was wielding the knife left the restaurant and was headed east on Broadway Street.

This from fox59.com: LOGANSPORT, IN- A 39-year-old man is in custody after he reportedly threatened and stabbed a 63-year-old man with a knife in Logansport on Tuesday evening.

According to a news release from the Logansport Police Department, officers were dispatched to the area of 6th Street and North Street in reference to a man threatening someone with a knife.

As officers were traveling to the scene, they were advised that the man, identified as the 39-year-old, was walking eastbound in the 600 block of E. Broadway when he began stabbing the 63-year-old man near a park bench. The 39-year-old was taken into custody when officers arrived.

The release said the 63-year-old had multiple stab wounds and was transported to a local hospital. Officials said he was later flown to a Fort Wayne hospital in “critical but stable condition.”

The 39-year-old was preliminarily charged with one count of assault with a deadly weapon, a Level 3 felony, and one count of intimidation with a deadly weapon, a Level 5 felony.
