Lowell Eldon Harter, 92, of Marion, passed away peacefully at his home on Sunday, July 6, 2025, at 4:50 am. Born in Marion, Indiana, on March 1, 1933, to Verlin M. and Delores M. (Owings) Harter, Lowell lived a life full of love, dedication, and faith.
On June 3, 1951, he married the love of his life, Doretta Florine Eastes, who survives. Lowell graduated from Sweetser High School, where he was active in baseball, basketball, and track. His passion for farming earned him the title of Outstanding Young Farmer of the Year in 1960. A devoted member of Faith Harvest Church, Lowell was known for his quiet, kind, and generous nature. His deep love for Christ led him to bring many people to faith.
Lowell is survived by his beloved wife, Doretta Florine Harter of Marion; daughters, Beth (Jack) Strange of Marion and Robin (Gary) Alexander of Edmond, OK; son, Kurt (Maureen) Harter of Hayden Lake, ID; brother, Dale Harter of Nevada, IA; grandchildren, Joshua (Stephanie) Strange of Marion, Lance (Allison) Strange of Rensselaer, Aaron (Jennifer) Alexander of Stillwater, OK, Carrie (Aaron) Hoblet of Boise, ID, Tyler (Holly) Alexander of Delaware, OH, Adam Harter of Sacramento, CA, and Luke Harter of Portland, OR; Swedish daughter by love, Inga Eriksson Dahl; 16 great-grandchildren; and loving caregivers, Betty Roberts, Jennie Biggs, Levita Jones, and Tammy Miller.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Lois (Dale) Allen.
A Celebration of Life for Lowell will be held at 4:00 pm on Sunday, August 3, 2025, at Faith Harvest Church, 2015 N. 300 W., Marion, IN 46953.
