Vernon P. Skinner

Vernon P. Skinner, 94, Marion, passed away at 12:12 pm on Wednesday, July 2, 2025, in his home. Born in Bloomfield, Indiana, on Tuesday, July 22, 1930, he was the son of Harvey Roscoe and Caroline (Hash) Skinner. Vernon was a United States Army Veteran. He worked various jobs in construction prior to working at General Motors (Fisher Body Division) before retiring in 1993.  He was a member of Healing Hearts Church of God and had attended Westside Assembly of God and Calvary Assembly of God.  Vernon was a devoted man of God and often said he was looking forward to looking on the face of his Lord and Savior. Vernon was easily recognizable by his cowboy hat and cowboy boots.  He enjoyed watching baseball and western movies, as well as being outdoors in nature working in his garden, fishing, and hunting. Vernon's family really appreciates the loving care given by Heartland Hospice staff, especially Aislinn, Kayla, and Emily.  Their dedication and compassion were of great comfort during a difficult time. Survivors include his daughter, Frieda A. Faulk of Peoria, AZ; sons, Vernon Ray (Kathy) Skinner of Greenwood and Timothy Wayne Skinner of Marion; step-children, Scott (Susi) Stephenson and Lori (Jason) Warren-Thompson of Marion; grandchildren, Lee M. (Shawna Eischens) Faulk of Phoenix, AZ, Joseph R. Faulk of Austin, TX, Danielle Marie (Chris) Sancocie of Belleville, IL, Abigail R. (Jordan) of Zionsville, and Derek C. Skinner; step-grandchildren, Brian (Sarah) Stephenson of Marion; and great-grandchildren, Carson, Camden, Alyssa, Bryce, Leo, and Nico. Vernon was preceded in death by his first wife, Norma June Skinner (1949-2003); second wife, Linda Warren Skinner (2004-2021); brothers, Delmar, Glen, Wilbur, William, Meryl, Miles, Max, Marion, and George; sisters, Geneva Clark and Wilma Owens; son-in-law, Billy D. Faulk; and daughter-in-law, Patti Skinner. The family will receive visitors from 12:00 noon to 2:00 pm on Tuesday, July 8, 2025, at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral & Cremation Service, North Chapel, 1341 N. Baldwin Ave., Marion, IN. Immediately following the time of visitation, a service to celebrate Vernon's life will begin at 2:00 pm with Pastor Delmar Fenwick officiating. Burial will take place at Gardens of Memory in Marion.
