Grant County Detention Deputy under investigation

MARION, IN — On June 18, 2025, Detention Deputy Russ Rodriguez was arrested by the Marion Police Department on a preliminary charge of domestic battery. The Marion Police Department is currently handling the criminal investigation, and the Grant County Sheriff’s Office has initiated a separate internal investigation. Sheriff Del Garcia stated, “The Sheriff’s Office takes these allegations very seriously. We are committed to upholding the integrity of our agency and will conduct a thorough and impartial internal investigation, following all applicable policies and procedures. In accordance with standard practice, Detention Deputy Rodriguez has been placed on administrative leave and pending the outcome of both the criminal and internal investigations." “We believe in and support the criminal justice system and have full confidence in the investigators and the prosecutor overseeing this matter,” the release said. “Because the investigation is still in its early stages, no further information is available at this time.”
