Betty J. Baker, 80, Marion, passed away in her home at 10:20 am on Tuesday, June 10, 2025. She was born in Maynardville, Tennessee, on Monday, December 4, 1944, to H. Maynard and Grace (Warick) Walden.
Betty attended from Marion High School and worked as a DSP for 8 years with Res Care. She had previously worked at Foster Forbes for 20 years. She graduated with honors from Ivy Tech with an Associates Degree. She loved God and attended Church of God of Prophecy in Gas City and enjoyed serving people. She was a very hard worker who loved Bingo, collected Betty Boop, angels, dolls, and old money. More than anything, she enjoyed being around her family.
Survivors include her daughters, Harriet (Gretchen) Binney of Eaton, Sandra Dunbar-Weaver; son, Mark (Katina) Dunbar; grandsons, Shane Dunbar, Doug Dunbar, Jake Dunbar, Adam Hill, Eddie Langston Jr.; granddaughters, Ashley (Stephan) DeShane, Kayla Lawson, Kelsey Dunbar, Angela Dunbar, Samantha Barton, Brittany Womack, Avery Barnes, Carrie (Mike) Worthington; and brother, Charles Walden.
She was preceded in death by her parents, H. Maynard and Grace Francis Walden; daughter, Margie Sue Hill; sons, Cliff Purvis, JD Dunbar; husband, Sherman Baker; grandson, Joey Hill; sisters, Shirley Lee, Glades Slufridge, Nancy Lloyd, Patsy Sherman; as well as brothers, Jay Walden and Billy Walden.
The family will receive visitors from 3:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Wednesday, June 18, 2025, at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral & Cremation Service, Storey Chapel, 400 E. Main St, Gas City, IN.
A funeral service to celebrate Betty's life will be held at 12:00 noon on Thursday, June 19, 2025, at the Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral & Cremation Service, Storey Chapel. Pastor David Morris will be officiating with burial following at Vinson Cemetery.
