Peru woman sentenced in drug case
WABASH COUNTY, IN- On the evening of April 22, 2024, Aliyah Scott, age 27 from Peru, IN, sold approximately 14 grams of methamphetamine to a confidential informant under the supervision and direction of the Wabash County Drug Task Force. Ms. Scott requested that the confidential informant meet her in the entrance of the grocery section of the Wabash Walmart for the exchange of the methamphetamine all the while her twin newborns were receiving care in a NICU. The case was investigated by the Wabash County Drug Task Force.
On May 12, 2025, Ms. Scott pled guilty to Dealing in Methamphetamine, a Level 2 Felony, and her sentence was left open to the Court's discretion with her overall sentence being capped at 15 years. On June 9, 2025, the State argued for a sentence of 15 years in the Indiana Department of Correction with 2 years suspended to probation. The Court ultimately sentenced Ms. Scott to 15 years in the Indiana Department of Correction with 3 years suspended to formal probation.
