Trooper Dukengtson Lavache honored with Inspector General’s Award of Excellence

INDIANAPOLIS- Yesterday, June 12, 2025, The Indiana Office of the Inspector General announced that Indiana State Police Trooper Dukengtson Lavache has been selected as the recipient of the 2025 Inspector General’s Award of Excellence. This prestigious award is presented annually to recognize an investigator or auditor from a state agency who has made exceptional contributions in support of the OIG’s mission to reduce fraud, waste, abuse, and misconduct within the executive branch of Indiana state government. Due to his military commitments, Trooper Lavache was unable to attend the ceremony in person. Accepting the award on his behalf were Indiana State Police Superintendent Anthony Scott, Lt. Colonel Robert Priest, First Sergeant Michael Tomson, and Sergeant Steven Glass. Trooper Lavache was honored for his exemplary service as an interpreter in multiple OIG investigations involving non-English-speaking communities. His work was instrumental in overcoming critical language barriers that initially hindered investigators’ efforts. As a result of his assistance, the OIG was able to uncover and document nearly $200,000 in fraudulent activity involving over 300 individuals across the state. His interpretive support not only enabled the successful criminal prosecution of those responsible but also helped to clear the names of individuals wrongly suspected in a separate case. Trooper Lavache’s dedication and professionalism were instrumental in maintaining the integrity and success of these investigations. His contributions reflect the highest standards of integrity, diligence, and service to the people of Indiana.
