GRANT COUNTY, IN– On May 20, 2025, just before 4:30 p.m., Trooper Titus conducted a traffic stop on a silver 2006 Dodge Charger at the exit ramp of the 264 mile-marker in Marion, Indiana. During the stop, Trooper Titus identified the driver as Barbara A. Sheets, 33, of Elgin, OK. The passenger was identified as Michael T. Dicapua, 49, of Illinois. While interacting with Ms. Sheets and Mr. Dicapua, Trooper Titus observed indicators of potential criminal activity. He requested assistance, and Grant County Sergeant David Meeks and K9 Deputy Michael Cook arrived shortly after. Deputy Cook deployed his K9, which alerted the officers to the presence of narcotics inside the vehicle. A search of the vehicle revealed suspected marijuana, drug paraphernalia, methamphetamine, other controlled substances, and a handgun. Ms. Sheets and Mr. Dicapua were subsequently taken into custody and transported to the Grant County Jail. The suspected drugs will be sent to the Indiana State Police Laboratory for a determination of the substances. Barbara A. Dicapua, 49, of Illinois, faces preliminary charges of: - Possession of Methamphetamine - Level 3 Felony - Possession of a Firearm by a Serious Violent Felon – Level 4 Felony - Possession of Marijuana (Prior) – Level 6 Felony - Possession of a Legend Drug – Level 6 Felony - Possession of Paraphernalia – Class A Misdemeanor - Theft - Class A Misdemeanor Trooper Titus was assisted by other members of the Indiana State Police Peru Post and the Grant County Sheriff’s Office.
