Jeannette May Smith

Jeannette May Smith, 92, Marion, passed away peacefully at 5:35 am on Friday, May 16, 2025, at Wesleyan Health Care & Rehabilitation Center in Marion. She was born in Unadilla, Michigan, on Sunday, August 21, 1932, to George and Marion (Cranna) Liebeck. On September 5, 1953, she married Miles Robin Smith of Kenton, Michigan and he survives.   Jeannette graduated from Stockridge High School class of 1950. She enjoyed a life of camping, travel and nature with Miles from a honeymoon trip around Lake Superior, 3 road trips to Alaska in retirement and many years volunteering at Big Cypress National Preserve among many other travels and adventures. She is survived by her husband of 71 years, Miles Smith of Marion; sons, Mark (Shannon) Smith of Zeeland, Michigan, Larry Smith of Indianapolis; grandchildren, Shelby, Kyle, Chelsea and Lauren; as well as 10 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, George and Marion Liebeck; brother, Doug Liebeck; sister, Marilyn Spencer; sister-in-law, Shirley; and brother-in-law, William. The family would like to thank they entire staff of Wesleyan Health and Rehab for their support during this difficult time. A private service will be held at Marion National Cemetery in Marion, Indiana. There will be a celebration of Jeannette's life on Saturday, June 28, 2025 at 2:00 pm at the Smith's residence 4715 S. Adams St., Marion, IN. Arrangements have been entrusted to Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral & Cremation Service, Storey Chapel 400 E. Main St., Gas City, IN.
