Dorothy Ellen Huston, 98, Marion, peacefully passed away on Wednesday, May 14, 2025, at Suite Living Retirement Community where she had been a resident for six years. She was born in Marion, Indiana, on Thursday, June 17, 1926, to William and Elizabeth (Shelton) Bausman.
Dorothy graduated from Marion High School in 1944. She moved to Wabash in December of 1944 with Richard C. Pressler where she was active in the Epsilon Sigma Alpha Sorority, in a Cub Scout Den, and attended The First United Methodist Church. She worked outside the home at Gackenheimer Drug Store, Beitmen Wolfe Dept Store, and Woody's Sheet Metal Shop. In 1963, she returned to Marion and in September 1967, she and Howard Huston were married. From 1964 to 1984 she worked for The Kiley, Osborn, Kiley, Harker Law Firm. Upon retirement, she and Howard moved to the Sebring/Avon Park, Florida area. The time in Florida was their "Wonder Years" and she did at least 6000 hours of volunteering with the Florida Hospital, Heartland Division. In 2001, they returned to Marion where she attended Grace Community Church (as well as their Thursday support group), was a member of The Marion Women's Dept. Club and attended the "Speeders" luncheons.
She was preceded in death by her parents, William E. and Elizabeth Bausman; husband, Howard E. Huston; sister, Martha Wines; brothers, Chester Bausman and Elbert Bausman; son, Allen Huston; grandson, Devin Huston, granddaughter, Ronda Huston, and several nieces and nephews.
Dorothy is survived by her son, Ron Pressler; daughter, Kathy (Dick) Herring; sons, Larry Huston, Doug, Huston, and Denny Huston; as well as several grandchildren and nieces and nephews.
The family will receive visitors from 1:30 pm to 3:00 pm on Thursday, May 22, 2025, at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral & Cremation Service, North Chapel, 1341 N. Baldwin Ave., Marion, IN.
Immediately following the time of visitation, a service to celebrate Dorothy's life will begin at 3:00 pm with Rev. Dr. Tom Mansbarger officiating. Burial will take place at Grant Memorial Park.
