Ronald Dane Anderson, 87, of rural Urbana, Indiana, died at 5:00 pm, Sunday, May 11, 2025, at Parkview Health Randallia in Fort Wayne. He was born on October 30, 1937, in Wabash, Indiana, to Clarence Melvin and Dorothy Mae (Garber) Anderson.
Ronald was a graduate of Manchester College and also did some graduate work at Ball State University. He married Shirley (Wright) Reed in Kentucky on September 23, 1994. Ronald was a teacher at Chippewa High School, Noble High School, and also at Josiah White's for 10 years. After teaching Ronald joined the F.B.I. and retired after 20 years. Upon retirement Ronald owned a security business with a fellow F.B.I. Agent, worked security on a cattle ranch in Montana where he would be gone for weeks at a time, and was a also a reserve sheriff's deputy. Once Ronald moved back to Indiana he bought a farm and enjoyed raising the cattle on his farm. Ronald was a member of Urbana Lions Club, the Hanna Masonic Lodge, and the National Rifle Association. He attended the Life Church in Huntington, Indiana. Ronald enjoyed politics and political news, attending sporting events for his grandchildren and Shirley's grandchildren, and loved his Friday morning breakfasts with his fellow reserve officers.
He is survived by his wife, Shirley Anderson of Urbana, four children; Shane Thadd (Stephanie) Anderson of Wilton, California, Kristen (Jonas) Walgard of Malmo, Sweden, Erika Gresham of Ogden, Utah, and Alyssa Neuer of Irvine, California, two stepsons; Jay (Shelley) Reed of Urbana, and Mike (Gia) Reed of Andrews, Indiana, 7 grandchildren, 5 step grandchildren, and 5 step great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Stephen Anderson, and sister, Nikki Anderson.
