GRANT COUNTY, IN- Kourtney N. Thompson, age 28, was arrested for the murder of Larry D. Jones Jr., which occurred on June 19, 2023, in the 2700 block of Avon Avenue in Marion, Indiana. Thompson was convicted last month following a jury trial in Grant County Superior Court I. The case was prosecuted by Grant County Prosecutor Scott Hunt and Deputy Prosecutor Jamie Moore.On May 7, 2025, the Honorable Judge Jeffrey D. Todd presided over Thompson’s sentencing hearing. Thompson was sentenced to fifty (50) years in the Indiana Department of Correction for Murder, with five (5) years suspended to be served on formal probation. She was also sentenced to fifteen (15) years for Robbery Resulting in Serious Bodily Injury, to be served concurrently with the murder sentence.Sheriff Del Garcia commends all who worked diligently over the past two years to bring justice in this case. “These acts of senseless violence are heartbreaking for families on both sides. We remain committed to pursuing justice and supporting victims and their loved ones,” said Sheriff Garcia.
