James S. Poulson

James S. Poulson, 76, Gas City, passed away at 1:55 pm on Tuesday, April 22, 2025. He was born in Hartford City, Indiana, on Friday, October 22, 1948, to James and Margaret (Stump) Poulson. On January 31, 1972, he married Deborah A. DePoy. James graduated from Marion High School and honorably served in the United States Marines during Vietnam War from 1967-1970. While in the Marine Corps, he was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnamese Service Medal and Campaign Medal, along with the Good Conduct Medal, Marksmanship Badge and Combat Action Ribbon. Following his military service, James was a laborer for 23 years with General Tire. He loved being a part of his grandkids' lives. He loved fishing, hunting, and riding Harleys, and he was very active with the VFW in Kokomo. Survivors include his son, James U. Poulson of Marion; daughters, Allison Poulson of Kokomo, Alycia Poulson of Fort Wayne, and Andrea (Rob) Draper of Upland; grandsons, Austin Poulson, Darreyen Poulson, and Raiden Draper; granddaughters, Delaney Poulson, Kyndal Poulson, and Alivia Draper; sister, Connie Hodson; and brothers, Randy Poulson and Trace Poulson. He was preceded in death by his parents, James L. and Margaret Pauline Poulson, and wife, Deborah A. Poulson. A graveside service will take place at Marion National Cemetery on Wednesday, May 7, 2025, at 10:00 am with Pastor Mick Simpkins officiating. Memorial contributions may be directed to the Veterans of Foreign War, 920 N. Washington St., Kokomo, IN 46901.
