Honeywell Heartland Media Arts students to showcase work at Eagles Theatre

WABASH, IN– The Media Arts Program, a collaboration between Honeywell Arts & Entertainment and Heartland Career Center, will showcase original photography, photo editing, graphic design, audio production, and video production completed by the 2024-25 class on Monday, May 12 at 6:30 p.m. at the Eagles Theatre. Following the presentation, a reception will take place in the Parkview Ballroom at Eagles. Admission to the event is free and open to the public. This event is sponsored by D.H. Floyd and Associates. Launched in 2017, the Media Arts Program prepares high school students for careers in business and/or media-related industries by developing their understanding of professional business practices, written and verbal communication skills, and industry tools. The program takes place at the Eagles Theatre, where the INGUARD Editing Suite and Haist Family Studio provide hands-on learning opportunities in audio/video production. Jessica Keffaber, Education Media Manager at Honeywell Arts & Entertainment, serves as the instructor for the 29-member class, which includes students from Huntington North, North Miami, Northfield, Oak Hill, Peru, Southwood, and Wabash High School, as well as Homeschool. Eighteen students are graduating seniors. After completing the Media Arts Program, graduated students have begun careers in the media industry and/or moved on to study Media Arts in college. When asked about the most important concept learned this year from the Media Arts Program, Southwood High School junior Sebastian Liebo said, “I learned how to think more for myself, and at the same time, how to work with a team more efficiently. I've learned how to record audio and music in ways I never knew before and am more confident than ever in my ability to record and mix audio and music on a professional level.” Alea Fleck, a homeschool senior, added, “When I came into this class, I had a little idea about what I wanted to do, but being in this class for two years helped me decide what I want to do in the future. I have learned how to work with other people and how to communicate with others.” 2024-25 Media Arts Students Homeschool Alea Fleck – Senior* Ella Herren – Senior* Huntington North High School Lucie Bennett – Junior North Miami High School Braxton Manning – Senior Christian Shambarger – Senior Ethan Johnston – Senior Logan Rigle – Senior Lucas Floyd – Senior* Sam Stone – Junior Northfield High School Kaitlyn Stith – Senior* Ryder Schram – Junior Oak Hill High School John Gilbert – Senior* Peru High School Aliyah Acuna – Senior* Ella Foster – Senior Southwood High School Abigail Waite – Senior* Alexis Lopez – Junior Maddox Elzy – Junior Sebastian Liebo – Junior* Wabash High School Alexis Walters – Junior Alisha Hyslop – Senior* Brayson Eckman – Junior Carter Winget – Junior* Isaeh Mettler – Senior* Izzabella Reed – Senior Kaeya Barton – Senior* Kyron Mahan – Junior Malia Williams – Junior Miranda Poole – Senior* Shaelyn Day – Senior* *Second-year Media Arts Program student.
