Anna Belle Johnson, 97, of North Manchester, Indiana, died at 7:18 pm, Wednesday, March 26, 2025, at Timbercrest Healthcare Center in North Manchester. She was born on January 21, 1928, in Post Town, Ohio, to John Breckenridge Johnson Jr. and Mary A. (Custer) Johnson.
Anna married Howard J. Johnson in North Carolina on May 16, 1958; he died January 23, 1994. She was a Corporal in the US Marine Corp, and worked in Civil Service, retiring from Camp Pendleton in 1991. She also was a Certified Legal Nurse Consultant, and volunteered at police stations and sheriff departments for 10 years. Anna became a member of the American Legion Auxiliary in the mid 1950's, and in the early 1960's Anna became a charter member of Chapter CA-7 Women's Marine Association. Anna was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution Frances Slocum Chapter for more than 25 years. She was also a member of the Oceanside Christian Church in California, and attended the North Manchester United Methodist Church. Anna loved to travel, and she visited all 50 states and over 20 different countries around the world.
She is survived by her companion of 24 years, Wayne Rennaker of North Manchester; two siblings, Charles R. Johnson of Anderson, Indiana and Martha J. Shea of Brookville, Indiana; as well as several nieces, nephews, and extended family. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Howard J. Johnson; and siblings, Catherine T. Craig, Helen E. Moore, Clara Lorraine Hiti, Walter W. Johnson, Howard Johnson, John Phillip Johnson, Richard Johnson, and Margaret L. Whiteman.
There will be a memorial service, Saturday, April 12, 2025 at Noon at the North Manchester United Methodist Church with Rev. Steve Bahrt officiating. Family will receive friends from 11-12:00 Saturday at the church. Arrangements by Grandstaff-Hentgen Funeral Service.
