Leo Brooks Corey, 91, of Marion, passed away at 1:00 am on Monday, March 17, 2025, at Marion Health. He was born in Hillsboro, Kentucky, on Tuesday, March 13, 1934, to Henry B. Corey and Lillian (Donaldson) Corey. On June 11, 1984, he married Martha Jane Milliner, who preceded him in death on June 5, 2023.
Leo graduated from Hillsboro High School and served in the United States Army during the Korean War. He was awarded the Bronze Star Medal and achieved the rank of Specialist 3. He went on to serve in the Army Reserves and retired after 20 years of military service, having achieved the rank of Sergeant First Class. Leo worked as a Nursing Assistant for 20 years with Northern Indiana VA Healthcare System in Marion, retiring in 1994. He was a member of the Christian Motorcycle Association. Leo enjoyed riding his motorcycle, taking his beagles hunting, and telling jokes.
Survivors include his daughter, Connie L. (Mike) Campbell of Marion; sons, Randall Joe (Rene) Miller of Marion, Mike (Patty) Miller of Gas City, Gregory (Sharon) Miller of FL, and Mark (John Closchey) Miller of FL; special friend, Pam Kughen; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and many other loved ones.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Betty Corey; his second wife, Martha Jane (Milliner) Corey; his son, Kevin Brooks Corey; and one grandson.
The family will receive visitors from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm on Saturday, March 22, 2025, at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral & Cremation Service, North Chapel, 1341 N. Baldwin Ave., Marion, IN.
Immediately following the time of visitation, a service to celebrate Leo's life with military honors will begin at 1:00 pm with Pastor Mick Simpkins officiating. Burial will take place at a later date at Gardens of Memory in Marion.
