Vernie L. McKee, 73, of Marion, passed away peacefully at his home on Thursday, February 27, 2025, at 11:20 pm. Born in Toledo, Ohio, on September 20, 1951, Vernie was the beloved son of Lester L. and Peggy McKee. He was married to his loving wife, Claudia (DeLozier) McKee, who preceded him in death on September 14, 2023.
Vernie attended Marion High School and dedicated many years to T&J Plating, where he worked as a foreman. He had a passion for camping, attending races, and bowling. Vernie also enjoyed playing card games, including Euchre, Poker, and Texas Hold 'em.
He is survived by his loving family: daughter, Carmela McKee of Marion; son, Michael McKee of Anderson; grandchildren, Brent Clark, Nicole Garcia, and Marcus Clark, all of Marion; and great-grandchildren, Journey, Darshawn, Liam, Cole, and Jimmy, Jr. Vernie is also survived by his brother, Larry (Gail) McKee of Marion, and his best friend, Ed Dickens.
Vernie was preceded in death by his wife, Claudia (DeLozier) McKee; his parents; his granddaughter, Marissa L. Clark; and his brother, Wendell McKee.
In accordance with Vernie's wishes, there will be no public visitation or funeral service. The family will hold a private service at a later date to honor his memory.
