Ralph Emerson Marshall, Jr.

Ralph Emerson Marshall, Jr., 89, of Wabash, Indiana, died at 2:58 pm, Monday, August 12, 2024, at Bickford Cottage in Wabash.  He was born on February 12, 1935, in Hymera, Indiana, to Ralph, Sr. and Edith (All) Marshall.

Ralph was a 1953 graduate of Hymera High School, and received his Bachelor of Science and Master’s degree both from Indiana State.  He married Jane Barnett, his childhood sweetheart.  They moved to Wabash in 1976 so he could become the Superintendent of Wabash City Schools, retiring in 1986.  Jane also received her Bachelor of Science and Master of Arts at Indiana State University.  She was a guidance counselor at Southwood High School until her passing. 

Ralph enjoyed motorcycling, muscle cars, was a 100-hour private pilot, and was very fond of his dog Harley.

He is survived by his son, John (Carol) Marshall of Cold Spring, Minnesota, and granddaughter, Dr. Leslie (Andrew) Marshall Kasha of Ypsilanti, Michigan.  He was also preceded in death by his parents, and his sister, Jean Killough.

Graveside services and burial will be 1:00 pm Friday, August 16, 2024 at the Knights of Pythias Cemetery in Hymera, Indiana. Friends may call from 4-5:30 pm Thursday at Grandstaff-Hentgen Funeral Service, 1241 Manchester Avenue, Wabash.  There will be a reception to honor Ralph's life from 6-8 pm Thursday in the Cloud Room at the Charley Creek Inn.

Preferred memorial is F.I.S.H.
