James Norman Melton, 85, of Amboy, passed away at 2:15 pm on Friday, August 9, 2024, at the home of Gregg and Jessi with family at his side. He was born in Egypt, Arkansas, on Tuesday, May 16, 1939, to Carl and Sarah (Brandon) Melton. In 1965, he married Susan J. Graham, and she preceded him in death.
James graduated from Converse High School in 1957 and after high school proudly served his country in the United States Air Force. Following his military service, he was an electrician at RCA until his retirement. James loved golf and was a lifelong Red Wings fan.
Survivors include his sons, James (Dawn) Melton of Monroeville, Barry Melton of Decatur, and Gregg (Jessica) Melton of Marion; granddaughters, Holland (Michael) Pritchard, Delainey Melton, Tommi Jo Melton, and Sydnie Melton; grandsons, Braden Melton, Grant Melton, and Lucas Melton; great-granddaughter, Skyelar Pritchard; great-grandson, Michael "MJ" Pritchard; Doug and the Melton family in Couch, MO; and his dog, Izzy.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and his grandson, Zachary Melton.
At James' request, there will be no public visitation or funeral service.
