WABASH, IN – In recognition of America’s 250th birthday, Visit Wabash County invites the
community to come together for an evening of gratitude, reflection, and remembrance at
Lights of Honor, a special luminary ceremony honoring the men and women who have served in
the United States military.
The ceremony will take place November 6 from 5 PM to 8 PM at the Wabash County
Courthouse, where luminaries will line the courthouse steps and walkways in recognition of
service members and the stories, families, and legacies they represent. Lights of Honor is proudly
sponsored by Denny Motor Sales.
Community members are invited to purchase a luminary in honor or memory of a veteran or
active-duty service member. Luminaries are $10 each and will be available for advance
purchase from October 1 through October 30th at VisitWabashCounty.com. All luminaries must
be purchased in advance.
“Lights of Honor creates an opportunity for our community to recognize the people whose
service has shaped our families, our community, and our country,” Stephanie Rogers,
Experiences Manager at Visit Wabash County. “Seeing each luminary illuminated on the
courthouse steps and walkways will be a meaningful reminder that behind every name is a story
worth honoring.”
Guests are invited to gather from 5 to 5:30 PM for music honoring America. A welcome and
singing of the National Anthem will take place at 5:25 PM, followed by a presentation of the
Gettysburg Address by local historical interpreter Murray Cox in character as Abraham Lincoln.
The luminaries will be lit at 5:30 PM and will remain available for guests to walk through and view
until 8 PM.
At sunset, the illuminated display will offer a moment for attendees to reflect on the sacrifices
made by those who have served.
Following the ceremony, the lights will be turned off from 8 to 8:15 PM, and participants are
welcome to take their luminaries home as a keepsake
