Harry William “Bill” Scott, Jr.

Harry William “Bill” Scott, Jr., 73, passed away peacefully in his Westfield home the morning of Sunday, August 30, 2026.

The son of Harry William Scott and Hester Berniece “Bea” Scott (Pence), Bill was born October 11, 1952 in Marion, Indiana. He graduated from Marion High School in 1971 and from Butler University in 1975 with a Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration. His entire professional career was with Blue Cross Blue Shield, culminating with a role as President of one of its affiliate companies, Administer Solutions.

Bill was a man of many talents and passions. He was a skilled bowler, playing often in his youth as his father managed Plaza Bowl in Marion. A member of Shady Hills Golf Club, he lived on the golf course for much of his life, earning a golf scholarship to Butler University. As a singer, songwriter, drummer, and pianist, Bill donated the proceeds from the sales of his debut album Shattered Lives to various charity organizations. He was quick-witted and welcoming to all, having never met a stranger. Bill and wife Karen shared a love of live music and could often be found dancing at local concerts. Gatherings at the Scott household, which were frequent, featured games of euchre, home-cooked meals, music, and the constant presence of cherished family and friends. Rarely empty, the Scott home was usually bustling with any combination of nineteen bright and healthy grandchildren.

Bill’s greatest joy was caring for his family. Bill leaves behind his beloved wife of thirty years, Karen Scott (Papke); his first wife and mother of his four oldest children, Billie Fouts (Seward; widow of Paul) of Indianapolis; his daughter, Angela Scott of Tipton, IN (five children); his son, Harry William “B.J.” Scott III, PhD of Aloha, OR (Aiman and three children); his son, Donovan Scott of Qualicum Beach, BC (Jolaine and two children); Clayton Scott of Kokomo, IN (Jacqueline and five children); and his daughter with Karen, Madison Bullard of Indianapolis, IN (Elijah and four children). In addition, he is survived by his sisters, Connie Hartenbower of Laguna Niguel, CA (David) and Linda Johnson of Checotah, OK (Harry).

Bill was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Kay Lange of Marion, IN (widower Dave Lange; husband Kenneth Thurston, deceased).

Family and friends may gather on Sunday, September 6, 2026 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral Home, 1341 N Baldwin Ave, Marion, IN 46952.

A funeral service to honor his life will commence at 1:00 PM. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to Second Helpings, Inc.
