
Betty J. Harmon, 94, of Marion, passed away at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, August 26, 2026, at Colonial Oaks Health & Rehabilitation Center. She was born on September 1, 1931, in Yale, Oklahoma, to Chester and Hattie (Henry) Wilson. On July 10, 1950, she married the love of her life, Frank Harmon, who preceded her in death.
Betty attended Eastview Wesleyan Church for most of her adult life and devoted 30 years of compassionate service as an OB nurse at Marion General Hospital. Her caring nature and dedication touched countless lives throughout her career. Even after retirement, her strong work ethic and her love for the career brought her back to work at the age of 75, where she continued serving others until retiring again at 77.
In her younger years, Betty enjoyed shopping and traveling, creating many treasured memories along the way. The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff of Colonial Oaks Health & Rehabilitation Center, especially those who cared for Betty during her final days, for their exceptional compassion, kindness, and dedication.
Survivors include her children, Kathryn Harmon of Huntington and Steven D. (Sherri) Harmon of Dawsonville, Georgia; grandchildren, Ryan Farmer, Collin Farmer, Aimee (Jake) Rice, Amber (Allen Young) Cassidy, June Harmon, Jason (Jeni) Harmon, Haley (Josh Alcorta) Tedder, and Mandy Turner; grandson-in-law, Mandy Alcaraz; and great-grandchildren, Lincoln Rice, Amelia Rice, and Evan Harmon.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank Harmon; her parents, Chester T. and Hattie R. Wilson; and her daughter, Karen L. Cummings.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Monday, August 31, 2026, at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral & Cremation Service, North Chapel, 1341 N. Baldwin Ave., Marion, Indiana.
A celebration of Betty’s life will begin immediately following visitation at 2:00 p.m., with Pastor Mark Atkinson officiating. Burial will follow at Gardens of Memory in Marion.
