Kaley Denise Barnes, 43, of Marion, passed away at 4:49 p.m. on Wednesday, July 29, 2026, in Huntington. She was born on May 3, 1983, in Bedford, Indiana, to Steve and Terri Fode. On June 26, 2021, she married Melissa Wysong.
Kaley graduated from Eastbrook High School, Huntington University and Purdue University with her Master’s Degree. She dedicated more than 20 years to education, teaching at Bluffton and Mississinewa before becoming an administrator at Lincoln Elementary. Passionate about helping children, she also loved coaching basketball, volleyball, and softball. Her competitive spirit, encouragement, and commitment inspired countless young athletes throughout the years.
Kaley loved deeply and had a gift for making everyone feel welcome and cared for. Smart, hardworking, and funny, she was known as a hustler and a self-proclaimed “certified napper.” Whenever she had the chance, she enjoyed relaxing by way of floating in the pool.
Her son, Logan, was the pride and joy of her life, and she was lovingly spoiled by her wife. Kaley will be remembered for her kind heart, her passion for education and coaching, and the love she shared so freely with everyone around her.
Survivors include her mother, Terri Fode; father, Steve (Mary) Fode; wife, Melissa Wysong-Stone; son, Logan Barnes; sister, Stephanie (Daniel) Daugherty and their sons, Carter and Dawson; Logan’s father, Willie Barnes; stepson, Thomas (Brittney) Barnes and their children, Hezekiah and Ezra Barnes; mother-in-law, Martha Grove; and a special friend, Joe.
The family will receive visitors from 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Monday, August 3, 2026, at Grace Community Church, 1810 E. Bradford Pike, Marion, Indiana.
Immediately following visitation, a service celebrating Kaley’s life will begin at 5:00 p.m., with Pastor Tyler Gates officiating.
