PERU, IN- The Miami County Community Foundation (MCCF) awarded an $8,500 grant to a new recovery program in Peru. Peer Point Recovery Foundation is a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping individuals affected by substance use disorders find hope and build lasting recovery.
Recovery doesn’t happen alone. It happens through connection, encouragement, and the support of people who truly understand the journey. Through the peer recovery program, individuals are paired with trained peer recovery coaches who have experienced recovery themselves. These coaches provide one-on-one support, encouragement, and guidance while connecting participants with resources such as treatment, housing, employment, transportation, and other services that support long-term recovery.
Founder Jeffery Coomer believes lived experience is one of the organization’s greatest strengths. “People need an opportunity, and that’s why Peer Point is built around giving people an opportunity, with the understanding that the best people to help other people are people who have walked a similar path.”
That philosophy has helped countless individuals take meaningful steps toward recovery while strengthening families and communities throughout north central Indiana. Every success story serves as a reminder that recovery is possible when people have someone who understands their journey and believes in their ability to succeed.
Community support makes this work possible. Financial contributions help sustain Peer Point’s recovery programs and expand access to vital peer support services. Volunteers, businesses, and community members can also make a difference by donating their time,
sponsoring events, sharing the organization’s mission, or connecting someone in need with Peer Point’s services. Every act of generosity helps provide another opportunity for hope, healing, and a fresh start.
This grant was made possible by MCCF Community Funds, which are currently being matched by $2 for every $1 donated. To learn more or donate, visit ww.nicf.org or contact Miami County Community Foundation Director of Development, Cheryl Broyles, at 765.470.1778.
