Veronica Jean Books, 72, of Wabash, Indiana, died at 1:20 pm, Sunday, July 5, 2026, at The Waters of Wabash East. She was born on June 22, 1954, in Wabash, Indiana, to Carl Dean and Mary Glee (Engleman) Wisenburger.
Veronica married Harry Books in Fulton County, Indiana on May 18, 2001; he died October 4, 2022. She was a CNA at Vernon Manor Rehabilitation Center, Peabody Retirement Community and also Timbercrest Church of the Brethren Home, as well as being the family caregiver. Veronica was a member of the Miami Nation of Indians. She was an avid collector of Indian memorabilia, dolls, and pictures. She enjoyed diamond painting, and watching television.
She is survived by three children, Monica (James) Wilson of Denver, Indiana, Donald (Tanya) Houston of Rochester, Indiana, and Ladonna Houston of Logansport, Indiana; six grandchildren, Heather Lowe, Nathan (Jasmine Smith) Brown, Dominic Houston, Marina Voght, Dakota Bowman, and Jose Houston; many great grandchildren; and her siblings, Phillis Keller of Washington, Sandy Weisenburger of Montana, and Dorothy Moore of Santa Fe, Indiana. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and two sisters, Beverly Russell and Nancy Exmeyer.
