WABASH, IN–The Wabash City Schools Board of Education is pleased to announce the
appointment of Dr. Christopher E. Daughtry as the district’s next Superintendent of Schools,
effective July 1st, 2026. The decision was made after a Board search and interview process,
following the announcement of Dr. Amy K. Sivley’s retirement.
Dr. Daughtry brings 28 years of experience in public education, with 16 years as a
Superintendent. Most recently, he served as Superintendent of Schools for Lewis Cass.
Before serving several districts as Superintendent, two notable positions he held were as a
medic in the United States Air Force Reserve for 8 years, and as the Principal at O. J.
Neighbours Elementary School from 2003-2006.
Dr. Daughtry received his Bachelor of Arts from Purdue University, West Lafayette. He holds
a Master of Education, a Licensure in Principal’s Preparation, and an Educational Specialist
degree, all from Indiana Wesleyan University, Marion, IN. He received his Doctor of
Education degree from Oakland City University in 2012.
“I am excited to return to Wabash,” says Dr. Daughtry. “My first principal role was at OJ
Neighbours, 20 years ago. It is a real honor to come back and serve as Superintendent.
Wabash is also very special to my family. Though I didn’t grow up here, my parents have
lived in Wabash for over 30 years, with my dad serving on the City Schools Board at one
time. My brother, sister, and wife are all graduates of Wabash High School. Finally, my
youngest two daughters have recently graduated from Wabash High School. Simply put,
the city of Wabash and Wabash City Schools are special to me and it feels like I’m coming
home.”
The Board would like to thank Dr. Sivley for the quality of her time with them and for helping
them in selecting her successor. They wish her nothing but the best in her next endeavor and
look forward to the work that Dr. Daughtry will do for Wabash City Schools.
