Herres, 61, of Marion, passed away at 2:59 am on Monday, April 13, 2026, at Aperion Care. He was born in Marion, Indiana, on Friday, October 16, 1964, to Martin Herres and Cecelia (Shildmyer) Smith. &nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">John graduated from Madison-Grant High School. He enjoyed mushroom hunting in the spring, being outdoors and all animals. He wanted to rescue any animal he could. He also enjoyed collecting watches and ball caps.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">John is survived by his mother, Cecelia Smith of La Fontaine; daughter, Samantha Herres; son, Johnathon Herres; long-time partner, Ashley Shaffer; half-brothers, Brian Herres, David Smith, Michael (Faith) Smith; half-sister, Lorraine Herres; as well as several nieces and nephews.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He was preceded in death by his father, Martin H. Herres; and half-brother, Joshua Smith.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">At John&#8217;s request, there will be no public visitation or funeral service. &nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Arrangements are entrusted to Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral &amp; Cremation Service, North Chapel, 1341 N. Baldwin Ave., Marion, IN.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Memories may be shared online at www.nswcares.com.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">To send flowers to the family of John C.
