He was born on September 24, 1942, in Muncie, Indiana, to Doyle William and Donna Irene (Hutson) Harris.

Ed graduated from Marion High School in 1960 and proudly served in the United States Navy during the Vietnam Era. A devoted husband, he married Nicoletta Mary Cook on October 5, 1963; they shared nearly fifty years together before her passing on July 28, 2013. In 2015, he married Linda “Susie” Harris, with whom he shared a later chapter of companionship until her passing on March 7, 2025. Ed was the owner of Pete’s Place in Upland, which closed in 1996, and he later retired from RCA in Marion after an impressive 43-year career, where he was a supervisor for quality control, as well as a manager in HR. A skilled hunter and fisherman, he felt closest to God when surrounded by nature. He also had a deep love for flowers and gardening. A gifted artist, Ed enjoyed painting, wood carving, and collecting arrowheads, generously sharing his creations with others. He was a natural storyteller and could spend hours in conversation, especially when politics came up – a topic he approached with passion and conviction. Above all, Ed cherished his family. He was a warm and devoted father and grandfather who never missed a game, performance, or activity. His greatest joy was spending time with his grandchildren, playing, laughing, and being present for every moment.

He is survived by two children, Peter Harris of Gas City, Indiana and Lisa (Greg) Bott of Wabash; six grandchildren, Sara Harris of Fort Wayne, Jakob (Gabrielle) Harris of Gas City, Emma (Easton) Hawk and Adam (Samanta Santana) Bott, both of Wabash, Zachary (Mikayla Stark) Brown, of Gas City, and Rachel (Shane) Hammond of Huntington, Indiana; six great-grandchildren, Elliot Bott, Elliot Hawk, Theodore “Teddy” Harris, Ramona Hawk, Peter “Ozzy” Harris, and Vincent Hawk, and his brother, Michael (Heather) Harris of Angola, Indiana. He was preceded in death by his parents, wives, daughter, Jennifer Ann Brown, and two brothers, David and Peter Harris.

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, April 22, 2026, at Grandstaff-Hentgen Funeral Service, 1241 Manchester Avenue, Wabash, with Pastor Mick Simpkins officiating. Burial will be in Marion National Cemetery, Marion. Friends may call 10-11 a.m., Wednesday, at the funeral home.

The memorial guest book for Ed may be signed at www.grandstaff-hentgen.com.

To send flowers to the family or plant a tree in memory of Doyle Edward “Ed” Harris, please visit our floral store.

<ins class="adsbygoogle" style="display:block;text-align:center"
        data-ad-format="autorelaxed"
        data-ad-client="0531879237494766"
        data-ad-slot="9212395598"></ins>

Doyle Edward “Ed” Harris, 83, formerly of Marion, Indiana, passed peacefully into the arms of Jesus on Friday, April 17, 2026, at Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne, Indiana.
