She was born on December 5, 1963, in Elwood, Indiana, to Bill Burger and Jewel (Anderson) Butcher, but raised by her mother and step father, Neverett Butcher.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Michelle was a 1982 graduate of Madison Grant High School. She married the love of her life, Thomas George, on June 25, 1983, at the Treaty Church of Christ. She dedicated 31 years of her life to caring for others as a nurse\u2019s aide at Miller\u2019s Merry Manor in Wabash. Her compassion and steady presence touched countless lives. Michelle was a former member of New Life Baptist Church in Wabash.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">She had a passion for cooking and loved experimenting with new recipes. Some of her happiest moments were spent traveling with her family, hiking, camping, and relaxing by a warm fire. Family meant everything to her. She never missed her children\u2019s or grandchildren\u2019s track meets, cross country races, or any of their many sporting events. Even after her children graduated, she continued to enjoy watching sports on television and cheering on her favorite teams. Michelle lived a life centered on love, family, and simple joys &#8211; a life that will be remembered with deep affection.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">She is survived by her husband, Thomas George of Wabash, three children: Kurtis (Kim) George of Noblesville, Indiana, Sherry (Joe) Sumwalt of Wabash, and Carrie (Nicholas) McWhirter of Monticello, Indiana; five grandchildren: Zoe George, Karrine George, Angel (Kyle) Copeland, R.J. Wehrly, and Eloise McWhirter; one great-grandson, Finnley Copeland, and her sibings: Steve (Tina) Burger and Judy Cavins, both of Wabash, Jane Low of LaFontaine, Indiana, Tim (Christina) Butcher of Wabash, and John (Jennifer) Butcher of Sharpsville, Indiana. She was preceded in death by her parents, step father, and four sisters: Linda Brimer, Donna Harmon, Jean Davis, and Billie Jo Southerland.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Funeral services will be 2:00 pm, Thursday, April 9, 2026, at Grandstaff-Hentgen Funeral Service, 1241 Manchester Avenue, Wabash, with Pastor Scott Johnston officiating. Burial will be in Gardens of Memory Cemetery, Marion.
