Court documents indicated that an officer with the department, later identified as Treon, was found to have reportedly conducted a fundraising scheme.

The documents state that Treon reportedly sent electronic messages requesting monetary donations on behalf of the department for police trading cards.

“Officer Treon represented that the donations were part of a competition for ‘bragging rights’ to see who could raise the most money and that all donated money would be given to a nonprofit organization,” the documents said.

The department was not found to have been participating in a trading card fundraiser, the documents said. Treon was also not authorized to solicit funds on behalf of the department. Multiple people, including family members, reportedly sent Treon funds to her personal account for the alleged fundraiser.

In mid-March, officials interviewed Treon as part of the investigation. The court documents indicated that at that time, Treon was no longer employed by the city of Marion and the Marion Police Department.

During the interview, Treon reportedly admitted to sending the messages, stating “I’m not going to lie, I was trying to get some money out of a friend.” The documents said that Treon reportedly received around $200 and used it to buy items for herself.

As the investigation into the incident continued, officials found that Treon had recieved $300 from a local church based on the belief that she had cancer. Another person also provided services for Treon based on that belief.

Treon reportedly admitted to law enforcement that she did not have cancer. The documents stated that Treon was also an officer with the Marion Police Department for part of the time the “cancer scheme was perpetrated.”

In a statement from the Marion Police Department, Treon reportedly resigned in August 2025 before the department was made aware of the incidents. Marion police said she worked for them for around six months.

The court documents indicate that a $2,000 cash bond was entered in Grant County in relation to Treon’s case on April 2.

<ins class="adsbygoogle" style="display:block;text-align:center"
        data-ad-format="autorelaxed"
        data-ad-client="0531879237494766"
        data-ad-slot="9212395598"></ins>

MARION, IN — This from fox59.com: A former Marion police officer who worked for the department for around six months reportedly orchestrated a fundraising scheme where people believed they were donating to the department when she was, in fact, pocketing the money instead.
