They provide a wide range of<br>healthcare services to girls and women, including general health check-ups, screenings and<br>vaccinations; pregnancy, birth, and postpartum care; and well-woman gynecologic care addressing<br>issues from adolescence through menopause to the elder years.<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">All of these nurse midwives emphasize getting to know their patients as individuals, offering support<br>without judgment, and cultivating relationships for the long term. Working with Dr. June Pollydore, Dr.<br>Takunda Mugwisi and Nurse Practitioner Abby Mitchell at Parkview Huntington Hospital, the midwives<br>help provide seamless care during pregnancy, delivery and beyond.<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Midwifery care complements the services of these OB\/GYNs, who are experts in high-risk pregnancy,<br>medical complications and surgery. Parkview\u2019s nurse midwives are experienced in supporting moms<br>emotionally and with important birthing resources, including ways to cope with labor pain. The midwives<br>can offer a variety of interventions \u2013 from position changes, relaxation techniques and water therapy to<br>saline solution injections at pressure points \u2013 to make moms more comfortable during delivery. If further<br>measures are needed, IV, epidural and other medications can be administered. The goal is to enable<br>each woman to have her desired approach to birth.<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cOur skilled nurse midwives meet women where they are on their health journey, reassure and guide<br>them,\u201d said June Pollydore, MD, Parkview Physicians Group \u2013 OB\/GYN. \u201cDr. Mugwisi and I rely on their<br>judgment and experience as our team plans deliveries and other needed procedures for our patients.<br>This team approach enables women to feel confident in the individualized care they receive so they can<br>focus on looking forward to welcoming their little ones. Supporting each woman\u2019s well-being and making<br>decisions together, we work to create the care experience our patients need and want.\u201d<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Four nurse midwives serve patients in Grant, Huntington, Wabash and Wells counties. Each of these<br>women\u2019s health professionals is board certified by the American Midwifery Certification Board and holds<br>membership in the American College of Nurse Midwives.<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Shelly Boone, CNM, FNP-C<br>Shelly Boone has been caring for patients at PPG \u2013 OB\/GYN offices in Huntington and Wabash and is<br>now seeing patients at Parkview\u2019s multi-specialty clinic in Marion.<br>Boone earned a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) from Anderson University in Anderson, Ind.,<br>followed by a master\u2019s degree in nursing (MSN) from Marion\u2019s Indiana Wesleyan University. She<br>received her CNM (nurse midwife certification) from Frontier Nursing University in Hyden, Ky. (now<br>located in Versailles, Ky.).<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Before earning her nurse midwife credentials, she worked as a family nurse practitioner at a Wabash<br>clinic for 12 years. Being present at the birth of a friend\u2019s daughter had a profound impact on her, and<br>she decided to focus her skills and experience on caring for women and babies. Boone estimates that<br>she has delivered nearly 700 babies during her career.<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Alisa Felke, CNM<br>Alisa Felke cares for patients at PPG \u2013 OB\/GYN offices in Huntington and Bluffton. Like Boone, Felke<br>was similarly inspired to choose a path in midwifery after attending the birth of her niece. Felke is also a<br>veteran of some 700 deliveries.<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">She received her undergraduate degree (Bachelor of Science in Nursing) from Indiana Wesleyan<br>University in Marion. She completed her master\u2019s degree in nurse-midwifery through Frontier Nursing<br>University.<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Corrine Stokes, CNM, MSN<br>Corrine Stokes takes care of patients at PPG \u2013 OB\/GYN offices in Huntington and Wabash.<br>Stokes began her nursing education at the University of Saint Francis in Fort Wayne and went on to<br>receive her Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree from Goshen College in Goshen, Ind., graduating<br>summa cum laude. She earned her Master of Science in Nursing degree from Frontier Nursing<br>University.<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Prior to joining Parkview, Stokes provided gynecological, prenatal, delivery and postpartum care \u2013 as<br>well as health education \u2013 for women in hospital, outpatient and clinic settings in Kosciusko and DeKalb<br>counties.<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Aubrey Monson, CNM, APRN<br>Aubrey Monson cares for patients at the PPG \u2013 OB\/GYN office in Huntington.<br>She earned both her Bachelor and Master of Science in Nursing degrees from Bethel University in<br>Arden Hills, Minn.<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Early in her nursing career, Monson practiced in a wide variety of specialties. As a midwife, she<br>practiced at St. Luke\u2019s Hospital in Duluth, Minn., and at the Minnesota Birth Center. Monson is currently<br>a professor of nursing at Indiana Wesleyan University and sees Parkview patients part-time. While she<br>is unable to accept new patients right now, she may see existing patients for routine care.<br><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Monson is committed to providing compassionate, evidence-based care.
