She was born on October 15, 1936, in Van Lear, Kentucky, to Charles Walters and Recie (Cantrell) Music.

Betty married Johnny Melvin Reed in Paintsville, Kentucky, on November 6, 1951. They shared a long life together until his passing on February 10, 2014. She worked for several years at Wagner’s in Wabash before embracing the role that became her greatest joy-being a devoted mother and homemaker. A longtime member of The Remnant at Wabash Chapel, Betty lived her faith deeply. She was a devout Christian who found her greatest peace in reading her Bible. Within her family, Betty was cherished for her exceptional cooking, especially her famous fried chicken and banana pudding. She loved collecting knickknacks and refrigerator magnets, small treasures that brought her joy. In her later years, Betty found comfort in quiet moments spent coloring, enjoying the simple peace it brought her.

She is survived by six children: John “J.R.” (Liz) Reed of Wabash, Joyce (Jessie) Monroe of Warsaw, Indiana, Robert E. Lee Reed of Wabash, Donna (Phil Brown) Rice of Warsaw, and Frankie Reed and Josh Reed, both of Wabash; 14 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren, seven great-great-grandchildren, siblings: Darlene Fairchild, Joe Eddie Walters, Richard (Diane) Walters, Nancy Fairchild, and Elsie Lilly, and her son-in-law, Danny Lassley. She was preceded in death by her parents, daughter, Sharon Lassley, grandson, Danny Kay Holley, one brother, and seven sisters.

Funeral services will be 2:00 pm, Monday, March 30, 2026, at The Remnant at Wabash Chapel, 1463 Middle Street, Wabash, with Ralph Johnson and Michael Moore officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Lawns Cemetery, Wabash. Friends may call one hour prior to the service, Monday, at the church. Arrangements by Grandstaff-Hentgen Funeral Service, Wabash.

Preferred memorial is The Remnant at Wabash Chapel.

The memorial guest book for Betty may be signed at www.grandstaff-hentgen.com.

To send flowers to the family or plant a tree in memory of Betty Frances Reed, please visit our floral store.

<ins class="adsbygoogle" style="display:block;text-align:center"
        data-ad-format="autorelaxed"
        data-ad-client="0531879237494766"
        data-ad-slot="9212395598"></ins>

Betty Frances Reed, 89, of Wabash, Indiana, died at 8:15 pm, Thursday, March 26, 2026, at The Waters of Peru in Peru, Indiana.
