Lawson, 69, Marion, passed away at 1:07 am on Sunday, February 22, 2026, at Lutheran Hospital of Indiana in Fort Wayne. She was born in Marion, Indiana, on Wednesday, October 10, 1956, to Donald and Betty (Sharon) Sands. On November 23, 1979, she married Barry Eugene Lawson and he survives.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Kathleen graduated from Oak Hill High School where she was active in high school band, choir, and musical theater. She was an accomplished pianist, solo contestant, and musical accompanist.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">After high school Kathleen graduated from Glamour Girl Beauty College in Marion and became a cosmetology instructor. In 1979 she started Kathleen\u2019s Hair Designs in Marion which grew through the next 46 years into KHD Studios. The business will continue to honor her memory.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Her early talent in music evolved into a love of Christian choral music. She took conducting classes at IWU and later was choir director at two central Marion churches.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Kathleen had a gift for vision and design. She created numerous floral arrangements, landscape lay-outs, and interior design (on display at her place of business).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Her creativity flourished as she fashioned hundreds of biblical costumes for church re-enactments and the Marion Easter Pageant.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Her organizational skill led her to coordinate weddings for friends and clients. Those same skills made her a key part of the revival of the Marion Easter Pageant after several years of interruption of the performance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Survivors include her husband, Barry Lawson of Marion; son, Gordon Lawson of Marion; sister, Roberta &#8220;Bobbie&#8221; Lynn (Mark) Satterwhite of Marietta, GA; nephew, Aaron Satterwhite of Marietta; and nieces, Shelby Satterwhite, Cally Satterwhite also of Marietta.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">She was preceded in death by father, Donald Edward Sands; and mother, Betty Maxine Sands.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The family will receive visitors from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm on Saturday, February 28, 2026, at First Christian Church of Marion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Immediately following the time of visitation, a service to celebrate Kathleen&#8217;s life will begin at 2:00 pm with Dave Newcomer officiating. Burial will take place at Grant Memorial Park.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Appreciation goes to First Christian Church where Kathleen had been active on their praise team.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Thanks to Aperion Care of Marion, Lutheran Hospital and Stillwater Hospice of Ft.
