She was born on August 20, 1939, in Danville, Illinois, to Amasa P. and Pauline M. (Prickett) Fogel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Fran was the salutatorian of her 1957 graduating class at LaFontaine High School, and a graduate of the Lutheran School of Nursing. She married John A. Gillespie on November 27, 1960, at the Presbyterian Church in Wabash; he died April 22, 2017. She worked as a registered nurse at the Wabash County Hospital for 30 years, and retired from the VA Medical Center in Marion, Indiana, after 12 years. Fran was a member of Dora Christian Church. She was extremely crafty, and enjoyed sewing and gardening. Fran also enjoyed shopping, thrifting, and riding motorcycles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">She is survived by three children, Valerie L. (Paul) Finnell of Indianapolis, Jon E. (Jody) Gillespie of LaFontaine, and Jennifer J. (Jeff) Gabe of Indianapolis; six grandchildren, Truman (A.J.) Finnell, Lucas (Mikayla) Finnell, Channing (Kyle) Motley, and Dawson Gabe, all of Indianapolis, Grant (Kara) Gillespie of Brownsburg, Indiana, and Holly (Nick Evans) Gillespie of Fishers, Indiana; and her sister, Rhonda (David) Vanderpool of Somerset, Indiana. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, two sisters, Lorna Mason and Amagene Pefley, and her brother, Paul Fogel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Funeral services will be 2:00 pm, Tuesday, January 20, 2026, at Grandstaff-Hentgen Funeral Service, 1241 Manchester Avenue, Wabash, with Brad Wright officiating. Burial will be in Center Grove Cemetery, Lincolnville.
