He was born in West Frankfort, Illinois, on Thursday, March 30, 1939, to Francis and Eula (Weaver) Rumsey. &nbsp;On June 10, 1962, he married Marilyn E. Way and she survives. &nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Don graduated from Frankfort Community High School and attended Marion College. He worked as a plant operator at the Marion Wastewater Treatment Plant. He was a long-time member of Brookhaven Wesleyan Church where he served faithfully and was always happy to do so. He was a member of the Battle of Mississinewa 1812 Reenactment. He enjoyed sharing this with his children and grandchildren every year. At home, you could usually find him in the garden, listening to music, or cracking jokes with whoever was around. He enjoyed watching sports whether it was Marion Giants Basketball, the Reds, Pacers or the Colts, he was a fan. It didn&#8217;t matter if they were sharing a meal or playing his favorite card game, spending time with his grandkids was his greatest treasure. He loved the Lord and wasn&#8217;t timid in sharing his faith through his love and kindness. Truly, Don will be missed greatly by all who had the pleasure of knowing him. &nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Survivors include his wife, Marilyn E. Rumsey of Marion; children, Jacinda Laine (Rick) Carder of Van Buren, Jeremy Donald Rumsey of Van Buren, Janel Lynn Hart of Marion; brothers, Carl E. Rumsey of Bella Vista, AR, Kenneth (Donna) Rumsey of Galatia, IL; grandchildren, Jonathan Matthew (Staci) Carder, Jeremiah Michael (Destiny) Carder, Josslyn Mariah (Taylor) Travis, &nbsp;Hannah Elizabeth (Austin Thompson) Rumsey, Noah Timothy Rumsey, Emily Morgan (Sheldon) Francis, Elaina Lynn (Matthew) Hershberger, Erika Jalyn (Kinzie Workman) Hart; great-grandchildren, Jase Carder, Ellie Carder, Lincoln Francis, Aurora Francis, Liam Carder, Miller Kate Carder, and Claire Travis.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">He was preceded in death by his parents, Francis &#8220;Frank&#8221; Marion and Eula Rumsey; brother, Marion Rumsey; and sisters-in-law, Carla Rumsey and Jo Rumsey.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The family will receive visitors from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Friday, January 16, 2026, as well as 1 hour prior to the service on Saturday from 10:00 am to 11:00 am at Brookhaven Wesleyan Church 2960 E. 38th St., Marion, IN.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A funeral to celebrate Don&#8217;s life will held at 11:00 am on Saturday, January 17, 2026, at the church with Pastor Gale Janofski officiating. Burial will take place at Gardens of Memory &#8211; Marion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Memorial contributions may be directed to Brookhaven Wesleyan Church 2960 E. 38th St., Marion, IN 46953.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Arrangements have been entrusted to Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral &amp; Cremation Service, North Chapel 1341 N.
