She is preceded in death by her parents, Chester (Alta) Nelson; siblings, Raymond, Maxine, Dora Dean, Norma, Dorothy, and Phillip; sons, Richard “Gus” Howell and DeWayne Florea; and the love of her life and husband of 74 years, Richard “Dick” Florea.

Survivors include her daughters, Bonnie (Phil) Elam, Leslie (Tony) Roberts, and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Donna and Dick owned and operated a full-service Shell gas station, co-owned K & F Oil Company, and owned Florea Petroleum, as well as three convenience store/gas stations. She taught herself bookkeeping and served as CFO.

Growing up on a farm across the road from Taylor University, Donna loved being her father’s right hand after her brother, Raymond, left to serve in WWII. She was happy to work with her daddy every day and was devastated to lose him suddenly when she was 16 years old.

Donna loved spending time with friends playing Euchre, bringing in the New Year, and vacationing together. She belonged to a Bunko club for over 30 years. She and Dick enjoyed being active members of First Christian Church, where they made enough applesauce to feed a small army to help with the hog roast fundraiser. Earlier, she was a member of the Order of Eastern Star and United Methodist Women. Along with her daughter, Bonnie, and son-in-law, Phil, she and Dick traveled by car to 49 US states and several Canadian providences.

Her faith in God, family, and friends came first. Whether cooking for family, hosting a large family event, serving at First Christian Church, or helping with a special event, she always put others first. She wanted others to be taken care of and would do whatever she could to help others in need.

Her love of music and singing alto in the choir was intensified when her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren became involved with many types of music. She and Dick enjoyed many wonderful programs at the Honeywell Center with daughter, Leslie, and her husband, Tony.

Donna was kind, loving, giving, and a glass-half-full person, who left a legacy of what it means to be a good person. All who knew her felt blessed to call her family or friend. Her gentle spirit lives on.

Visitation is 10:00 am to 12:00 noon with her Celebration of Life beginning at 12:00 noon on Friday, December 19, 2025, at First Christian Church, 1970 N. Wabash Rd., Marion, Indiana. Pastor Jim Sonnefield and Rev. Haley Asberry will be co-officiating.

Memorials may be made to Marion High School Band, 750 W. 26th St., Marion, IN 46953, and Fort Wayne Children’s Choir, Purdue University Fort Wayne, 2101 E. Coliseum Blvd., Fort Wayne, IN 46805.

Arrangements are entrusted to Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral & Cremation Service, North Chapel, 1341 N.
