He found joy in gardening, yard work, and attending antique tractor and toy train shows. A passionate collector, he treasured his toy John Deere and International tractors.

Jim was also an enthusiastic supporter and follower of Oak Hill Athletics, Purdue Athletics, and, of course, his favorite baseball team, the Atlanta Braves. Above all, Jim will be remembered for his steadfast devotion to his family and to the Lord.

The family wishes to thank the nurses and staff at Heart to Heart Hospice for their loving care.

Along with his loving wife, Linda, Jim is survived by his daughters, Shelly (Kevin) Renbarger and Kristi (Kevin) Scheer; son, Marc Cabe; six grandchildren, Braden and Ashlyn Renbarger, Hannah and Emma Bennett, and Claire and Christian Scheer; and sister-in-law, Melody Cabe.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Lee Cabe.

Family and friends may call from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm on Thursday, August 21, 2025, at Maple Run Friends Church, 4460 W. 400 S., Marion, IN.

Immediately following the time of visitation, a service to celebrate Jim’s life will take place at 1:00 pm.
