The officer ended up firing five shots at the suspect who allegedly pointed a gun at police.\r\n\r\nCourt documents revealed more details into\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/fox59.com\/news\/indycrime\/no-officers-injured-after-shootout-in-peru\/\" data-type=\"link\" data-id=\"https:\/\/fox59.com\/news\/indycrime\/no-officers-injured-after-shootout-in-peru\/\">the officer-involved shooting<\/a>\u00a0that occurred at a Peru mobile home park on Jan. 7.\r\n\r\nMarco Anguiano survived being shot by police but is currently being held in Miami County Jail on multiple felony charges. His most serious charges include armed robbery as a Level 3 felony and unlawful possession of a firearm as a Level 4 felony.\r\n\r\nPrevious stories detail how witnesses told FOX59\/CBS4 that a pregnant woman spotted a \u201cstrange man\u201d in her garage which kicked off a police standoff after the man retreated into a mobile home. The woman wasn\u2019t harmed but police did learn that another individual was allegedly held at knife point and robbed by Anguiano.\r\n\r\nOfficers encountered Anguiano in the mobile home park but he ignored police orders and beelined for a mobile home. Officers said that while Anguiano was retreating, he pulled a firearm with his waistband and pointed it at police.\r\n\r\nAn Indiana State Police review of bodycam footage stated that officers could be heard yelling \u201cgun, gun, gun!\u201d Then a police officer fired five shots at Anguiano, wounding the suspect.\r\n\r\nThe officer stated he opened fire due to fearing for his safety and well-being.\r\n\r\nAnguiano dropped his firearm on the porch after being shot. He also reportedly consumed what police believe to have been meth.\r\n\r\nAnguiano was eventually taken into custody while police searched the area for potential additional suspects. Anguiano was taken to the hospital but wasn\u2019t seriously injured from the shooting.\r\n\r\nCourt documents reveal Anguiano has a criminal history. He has been convicted in the past of resisting law enforcement with a vehicle and robbery with a deadly weapon.\r\n\r\nIf convicted of a Level 3 felony, he could face up to 16 years in prison.\r\n\r\n&nbsp;\r\n\r\n<span style=\"font-family: 'Aptos',sans-serif;\">Update: PERU, IN<\/span><span style=\"font-family: 'Aptos',sans-serif;\"> \u2013 The Indiana State Police (ISP) Lafayette District Criminal Investigation Division is investigating an officer-involved shooting that occurred on State Road 19 in Peru, Indiana.<\/span>\r\n\r\n<span style=\"font-family: 'Aptos',sans-serif;\">On January 7, 2025, shortly after 8:30 a.m., officers responded to a 9-1-1 call reporting a subject allegedly banging on windows at a residence on State Road 19, north of U.S. 24. Miami County Dispatch received additional information indicating that the subject allegedly feared for their life.<\/span>\r\n\r\n<span style=\"font-family: 'Aptos',sans-serif;\">When officers arrived at the scene, they made contact with the individual who had been reported as banging on the windows. After speaking with this individual, officers gathered information that led them to a nearby trailer in the 1600 block of State Road 19.<\/span>\r\n\r\n<span style=\"font-family: 'Aptos',sans-serif;\">As officers approached the trailer, they encountered a subject outside of it. Officers attempted to give verbal commands, but the subject brandished a firearm toward law enforcement. At that time, one officer discharged their firearm, striking the individual.<\/span>\r\n\r\n<span style=\"font-family: 'Aptos',sans-serif;\">Officers immediately rendered medical aid, and the subject was transported to a hospital in the Fort Wayne area. The subject remains hospitalized and is currently receiving treatment for their injuries.<\/span>\r\n\r\n<span style=\"font-family: 'Aptos',sans-serif;\">Two additional individuals remained barricaded inside the trailer. Officers quickly established a perimeter, and the Indiana State Police SWAT team, along with hostage negotiators, responded to the scene. Negotiators successfully made contact with the two individuals, who exited the residence without incident. One of those individuals was later identified to be Tisha Medina.<\/span>\r\n\r\nMedina was found to have an active warrant for her arrest out of Cass County for the following offenses:\r\n\r\n<span style=\"font-family: 'Aptos',sans-serif;\">1. Possession of Methamphetamine - Level 5 Felony<\/span>\r\n<span style=\"font-family: 'Aptos',sans-serif;\">2.\u00a0 Possession of Marijuana - Class B Misdemeanor<\/span>\r\n<span style=\"font-family: 'Aptos',sans-serif;\">3.\u00a0 Possession of Drug Paraphernalia - Class C Misdemeanor\u00a0<\/span>\r\n\r\n<span style=\"font-family: 'Aptos',sans-serif;\">During the investigation, a firearm was located at the front of the trailer in the area where the suspect was detained.<\/span>\r\n\r\n<span style=\"font-family: 'Aptos',sans-serif;\">This remains an active and ongoing investigation being conducted by the Indiana State Police Lafayette District Criminal Investigation Division. The information being released at this time is based on a preliminary investigation and is subject to change as more details become available. Upon completion, the findings will be submitted to the Miami County Prosecutor\u2019s Office for review.<\/span>\r\n\r\n<span style=\"font-family: 'Aptos',sans-serif;\">In accordance with Indiana State Police policy, the trooper who discharged their firearm has been placed on administrative leave.
