She was born in Marion, Indiana, on Wednesday, May 4, 1949, to Robert L. Burton and Delberta (Frazier) Sachse. On December 16, 1978, she married the love of her life Gary Bailey, who precedes her. &nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Edith graduated from Eastbrook High School and later attended Hope Sound Bible College, where she continued to grow in her faith and love for God. She was a devoted Christian and a member of Friendship Baptist Church, where her faith was an important part of her everyday life.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Edith worked as a Director with Open Heart Women\u2019s Shelter, where she had the opportunity to care for and encourage others. She was a woman who loved serving those around her and found joy in making a difference in the lives of others.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In her free time, Edith enjoyed putting puzzles together, playing games, reading, and visiting thrift stores and garage sales. She especially loved music and had a beautiful love for playing the piano. She enjoyed sharing her musical gifts at church through playing the piano and singing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Edith will be remembered for her devotion to God, her caring heart, her love of music and reading, and the many simple joys she found in everyday life. Her faith and the love she shared with others will remain a lasting part of her legacy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Survivors include her siblings, Robert E. Burton, Richard Otis Burton, Jeffrey (Alex) Burton, Tina Burton, Delbert (Vickie) Hughes; several nieces and nephews; best friends, Peggy Thomas, Georgia Miller-Blossom; sisters-In-law, Gwendolyn Bailey, Mary Annette Sherman; aunt, Bernice Hall; cousin, Wendy Campbell; and many extended family members.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">She was preceded in death by her parents, Delberta Jean Sanchse and Robert L. Burton; husband, Gary Bailey; daughter, Melody Bailey.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The family will receive visitors from 12:00 noon to 1:00 p.m. on Friday, September 4, 2026, at Needham-Storey-Wampner Funeral &amp; Cremation Service, North Chapel, 1341 N. Baldwin Ave., Marion, IN.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Immediately following the time of visitation, a service to celebrate Edith&#8217;s life will begin at 1:00 p.m. with Matthew Castle officiating.
