Baer, 69, of rural Wabash, Indiana, died at 3:30 am, Monday, August 10, 2026, at his home. He was born on April 4, 1957, in Marion, Indiana, to Donald W. “Doc” and Willamae (Wearly) Baer.

Rex, a 1975 graduate of Northfield High School, built a life defined by loyalty, humor, and hard work. On June 29, 1979, he married Patricia Meston in Roann, Indiana, beginning a partnership that grounded every chapter of his life. Rex dedicated 32 years to Brownstown Electric. He grew up in the Richvalley Church, formerly the Richvalley United Methodist Church, and was also a member of the Lagro American Legion Post 248. A huge John Deere fan, Rex found joy in the rhythms of the outdoors: farming, gardening, fishing, and especially raising sweet corn. He was famously ornery, the kind of man who never met a stranger and could spark a conversation anywhere, with anyone. Beneath the jokes and the mischief, though, was a heart anchored firmly in family. Above all else, Rex loved his grandkids and his family, and they were the center of his world.

He is survived by his wife, Patricia Baer, daughter, Mallory (Bobby) Lynn, and three granddaughters: Ava Lynn, Alexis Lynn, and Abigail Lynn, all of Wabash, three brothers: Ron (Rhonda) Baer of Wabash, John (Theresa) Baer, and Kevin (Jolene) Baer, both of Urbana, Indiana; sister, Teresa Miller of Wabash; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, Dallas Baer, sister, Janelle Sinclair, and brother-in-law, Duane Miller.

A celebration of Rex’s life will be 3:00 pm, Saturday, August 15, 2026, at Grandstaff-Hentgen Funeral Service, 1241 Manchester Ave, Wabash. Friends may call from 1:00 – 3:00 pm, Saturday, at the funeral home.

Preferred memorial is St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.

The memorial guest book for Rex may be signed at www.grandstaff-hentgen.com.

To send flowers to the family or plant a tree in memory of Rex Baer, please visit our floral store.

<ins class="adsbygoogle" style="display:block;text-align:center"
        data-ad-format="autorelaxed"
        data-ad-client="0531879237494766"
        data-ad-slot="9212395598"></ins>

Rex E.
