She was born in Marion, Indiana, on Friday, January 6, 1939, to Ronald and Mildred (Whetstine) Dawalt. On July 3, 1958, she married Harold McCollum, who preceded her in 2023. &nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Kay graduated from Mississinewa in 1957. She worked 12 years at the Knox Glass Factory and served on the Gas City Library Board, and as a Girl Scout Leader, Sunday School Teacher and Church Camp Counselor. She enjoyed life&#8217;s simple pleasures and especially loved eating at Jackie&#8217;s Family Restaurant, spending hours with a good book, tending to and admiring flowers, and searching for hidden treasures at auctions and rummage sales. She faithfully followed Mississinewa sports, especially basketball. Kay had a strong faith and cherished her time spent in her earlier years at the Fairmount Church of God and later at Westview Wesleyan Church. She valued time spent with family and friends, and her kind spirit and love for the things that brought her joy will be fondly remembered by all who knew her.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Survivors include her children, Kirk (Shelly) McCollum of Gas City, Debra (Chris) Cunningham of Gas City, Kent (Gail) McCollum of Noblesville; grandchildren, Neal Cunningham of Indianapolis, Todd (Tony) McCollum of Pawtucket, RI, Katelin (Sergio) Flores of Gas City, Conner (Anna) Cunningham of Marion; great grandchildren, Daylin Davis, Dace McCollum, Frankie Flores, Andre Flores, Andrew Cunningham, Abram Cunningham, Canon Cunningham; sister-in-law, Helen McCollum of CA; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">She was preceded in death by her parents, Ronald and Mildred Dawalt; husband, Harold McCollum; brother, Bob Dawalt; and grandson, Andrew Cunningham.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The family would like to extend a special thank you to everyone who faithfully visited her and sent encouraging cards.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">A private burial will take place with Rev. Bill Cornell<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The family will receive visitors from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Friday, August 7, 2026, at Westview Wesleyan Church, 1300 W. 6th St., Jonesboro, IN.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Immediately following the time of visitation, a service to celebrate Kay&#8217;s life will begin at 7:00 pm with Pastor Steve Armes officiating.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Memorial contributions may be directed to the Gas City Library 135 E. Main St., Gas City, IN or the Mississinewa School Athletics Program 424 E.
